L.R.Willson and Sons Inc. is a steel erection company that evolved from Willson's Welding Service. Willson's Welding Service was a modest but highly successful welding business, which began operations in the Parole area in 1952. In a short time Leonard Willson's reputation for quality and reasonable priced work had helped him expand into the fabrication of small portable buildings, fertilizer hoppers, and other medium sized projects.

In 1957 Leonard Willson moved his shop into a much larger facility on Generals Highway. Leonard's two sons James and Donald, began working with him as welders in 1962 and 1964. Under their fathers guidance James and Donald gained valuable experience, which facilitated their expansion into fabrication and erection of small warehouses and shopping centers in 1969.

Mary Sharp, one of Leonard's daughters, joined the company in 1964 and helped guide the company through the rapid growth of the 60's. By 1971 the steel erection portion of the business was so large that it was incorporated as a separate business from Willson's Welding Service.

Today, Donald is President of L.R. Willson and Sons Inc., and sales coordinator. James is Vice President, and oversees the coordination of all on going steel erection projects. And Mary is C.E.O/Secretary Treasurer and oversees the financial status of L.R.Willson and Sons Inc.

After 54 years from its humble beginning, L.R. Willson and Sons is a leading steel and precast erection specialists serving the Delmarva area, and the lower southern states. L.R. Willson's large and experienced staff, complimented by an extensive inventory of 20 cranes, over 100 welding machines, compressors, manlifts, boom trucks, and the necessary trucking fleet, stands ready to take on virtually any construction project on the East Coast.
